What is the Honors College?

Stony Brook's Honors College is unique in that it has a special curriculum for honors students only, independent of their chosen major area of study. Small and highly selective, the Honors College enrolls only about 100 of the 2,800 freshmen entering the University each year. Its students receive the individual attention and small seminar courses typically found only in small colleges while enjoying the vast range of academic opportunities available only at a major research university.

Honors College students major in various programs across the campus. Current students are enrolled in 40 different majors ranging from Anthropology, Biology, Business, Chemistry, English, and History to Mathematics, Music, Physics, Political Science, and Psychology.
