Tábata Quintana received her Licentiate degree in Foreign Languages and a master’s degree in Applied Linguistics from University of Brasilia. She joined Stony Brook as a Visiting Assistant Professor after completing her Ph.D. studies on Culture and Interculturality in Foreign Languages Teaching area, with focus on Portuguese as a Foreign Language teaching at the Federal University of São Carlos, São Paulo, Brazil. Her research interests include Portuguese as a Heritage Language, Culture and Interculturality in Second/Foreign language teaching and learning processes, Language Acquisition, Second, Heritage and Foreign Languages Assessment and Development of Teaching Materials for Specific Purposes. She has taught Portuguese in Japan, Cuba, and Brazil. Currently, in the US, she is the selected Lecturer of the Brazilian Ministry of External Relations to promote the study of Portuguese language and Brazilian cultures.
