RESEARCH AND INNOVATION TASK FORCE

Scope

The Research and Innovation Task Force will focus on identifying new opportunities and areas of growth, more effective alignment of resources, infrastructure and new ways to encourage inter-disciplinary collaboration and innovation. Expanding our research portfolio represents a tremendous academic and economic opportunity for Stony Brook and is crucial for our continued participation in the AAU. This Task Force will build on the work outlined in the 2017 Facilitating Researcher Success initiative and the 2020 draft growth strategy.

Key Priorities

  • Enhance AAU standing;

  • Change the culture of research at SBU to emphasize collaborative research efforts;

  • Focus on faculty’s growth and productivity by incentivizing faculty success and disincentivizing stagnation;

  • Increase federal, industry, and technology funding; and

  • Optimize use of space and facilities to encourage campus-wide efforts in research and innovation
