Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Clinical Instructor

Required Qualifications

For Nurse Practitioner: 

Current NYS RN licensure.  Master's Degree in Nursing.

For Physician Assistant:

Bachelor's Degree from an approved US Physician Assistant Program.

Preferred Qualifications

For Nurse Practitioner: 

Experience with end stage renal disease (ESRD); experience with pre-and post-operative care of kidney transplant patients; critical care experience; management of patients with co-morbidities; knowledge of PowerChart, Microsoft Word, Excel.

For Physician Assistant:

Experience with end stage renal disease (ESRD); experience with pre- and post-operative care of kidney transplant patients; critical care experience; management of patients with co-morbidities, knowledge of PowerChart, Microsoft Word, Excel.

Responsibilities & Requirements

Duties may include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Performing pre-transplant health and physicals for evaluation of potential kidney transplant candidates; providing education to patients.
  • Routine follow-up and management of post-transplant patients in the hospital and post-transplant clinic.
  • Triage patient calls and provide medical advice/direction as necessary.
  • Prescription refills for post-transplant patients.
  • Management of kidney transplant patients during initial transplant admission as well as re-admissions.
  • Scheduling transplant biopsies, ultrasounds, IVIG, plasmapheresis.
  • Review test results, lab reports, and consults to assist in patient management for transplant wait list.

Special Notes

This is a non-tenure track position.  FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.  Internal and external search to occur simultaneously.  Anticipated Start Date: 8/11/18.
