Chief Technology Officer-Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor
Required Qualifications MD or PhD degree in biomedical informatics, data science, computer science, electrical
and computer engineering, biomedical engineering or similar field. Must have state
of the art knowledge of healthcare technology to drive enterprise wide innovations
in healthcare delivery and research. Significant experience in developing and/or deploying
informatics solutions across health systems. Significant research or enterprise experience
in systems software development, data analytics, data visualization and information
management for healthcare. Candidates should be analytical and independent thinkers
with excellent organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications Strong experience in health informatics decision support, data analytic, mobile health
and/or artificial intelligence systems. Experience with deep learning and other machine
learning methods and with Cloud computing frameworks. Strong publication record in
clinical biomedical informatics. Experience in development and deployment of data
warehouse architectures. A strong track record of working with real world data analytics
problems in application settings. Experience with semantic modeling, reporting tools,
Python and JavaScript. Excellent skills in computer programming and in database design.
Ability to integrate state of the art data analytics methods and tools with existing
vendor electronic patient record systems, financial systems and PACS systems.
Responsibilities & Requirements The successful candidate will serve as Chief Technology Officer, will evaluate new
technologies, and will lead the effort to integrate innovative solutions across the
healthcare continuum including app development, leverage recent dramatic advances
in data analytic tools and of artificial intelligence to deploy across Stony Brook
Medicine, the Stony Brook Clinically Integrated Network and the emerging collection
of affiliated hospitals and practices. This candidate will focus on development of
systems architectures and deep learning models needed to:
1. Integrate clinical, operational, & financial information; carry out analyses and
interact with transactional systems.
2. Generate computable phenotypes for Stony Brook and Clinically Integrated Network
patients and use these computable phenotypes to drive decision support and population
health applications.
3. Develop and deploy effective innovative software and methods for population health
applications.
4. Leverage data streams to carry out near real time analyses and decision support
in a variety of care settings.
5. Integrate image and sensor data analytics into the clinical workflow.
6. Contribute to institution wide efforts to evaluate innovative informatics commercial
products involving artificial intelligence, novel data analytics and mobile health.
7. Create apps to leverage novel technology across the enterprise.
8. We work closely with Stony Brook Medicine IT to bring new technologies to fruition
in daily use across Stony Brook Medicine.
The successful candidate is expected to lead tech innovation across Stony Brook Medicine,
working with multi-disciplinary teams in collaborative cutting edge projects. A key
challenge will be making the journey from idea to reality across multiple stakeholders.
In addition to leading evaluation, deployment and integration of data analytic technologies,
app development, data visualization techniques, the successful candidate is expected
to engage the external technical community through publication and presentation of
results in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
Special Notes Tenure/Non-Tenure Track. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions
