IDEA Fellows

The Department of Technology and Society invites all individuals with a research interest in ethics, responsible AI and technology, climate, and health to consider applying to Stony Brook University’s IDEA Fellows Program. While this specific announcement is somewhat old, it is still very much active.

The IDEA Fellow candidates must have a Ph.D. and track record/strong interest in an academic career. They must be able to help the department in broadening participation in computing. The Fellow will be appointed in a non-tenure track position for 2 years and provided with mentorship to bring them up to a tenure-track position in the department at the conclusion of 2 years. This is not too dissimilar to a post-doc, except there may be a light teaching load to make it meaningful. We expect to see candidates that would rise to the level of strong tenure-track candidates in 2 years.
