Jon received his undergraduate degree from Drake University in Des Moines, IA and his MA from King’s College, London before arriving at Stony Brook University in 2016. His research interests are in Victorian literature, children’s literature, the digital humanities, and feminist and queer theory. He is a member of the 2017 cohort of HASTAC Scholars, and several of his interviews with other scholars in the field of digital humanities can be found on the HASTAC website. At Stony Brook, Jon is nearing the completion of two additional graduate certificate programs: one in teaching writing and rhetoric and another in Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies. These programs have helped to inform his expansive (read greedy) approach to teaching and research, in which he tries to pull everything from video games, graphic narratives, and YouTube videos into the scope of his study. His microphone was turned off by the DJ at a recent karaoke night; he did not let this deter him.
