Prepareathon 2016

Stony Brook University Police's Office of Emergency Management has partnered with the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency to present to the Stony Brook campus community: Prepareathon 2016!  America's Prepareathon! is a grassroots campaign for action to increase community preparedness and resilience.  Throughout this campaign we will provide the campus community with information regarding special topics. We encourage all students, faculty and staff to take a moment and review preparedness tips below because a safe seawolf is a happy seawolf. Any questions about materials can be emailed to Jason Casale.

April 30th, 2016: National Preparathon Day

Citizens who are aware of their community's hazards and are actively engaged in building resilience to emergency incidents and disasters are better prepared to withstand and rebound from the consquences of these events. America's Prepareathon is a biannual national, grassroots campaign organized by FEMA to increase individual and community preparedness and resilience.  The goal of this campaign is to increase the number of individuals in our communities that: understand which disasters could happen in their community, know what to do to be safe and mitigate damage, take action to increase their preparedness, and participate in community resilience planning.  For more information about Prepareathon please visit: ready.gov and community.fema.gov
