New NYS-Funded Fundamentals of
Offshore Wind Program

Stony Brook University's Fundamentals of Offshore Wind program is designed for professionals currently working in or aspiring to enter the wind sector. Attendees will experience an all-encompassing overview of wind energy through modules focused on marine and atmospheric science, engineering, economics, environmental impacts, and business implications.

PROGRAM FEATURES:
  • 45-hour, 3-week program offered completely online
  • Courses taught by SBU faculty and industry experts
  • Opportunity to engage with industry representatives and connect with fellow professionals
  • Funded through a New York State grant
  • Students will earn a Stony Brook University micro-credential in the form of a digital badge

The State University of New York (SUNY) and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) launched New York’s Offshore Wind Training Institute (OWTI) to train 2,500 workers as part of the largest public investment in offshore wind workforce development by any state in the U.S. At Stony Brook University, the Offshore Wind Education program is a combined effort by the School of Professional Development, the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, the College of Business, the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences and the Advanced Energy Research and Technology Center (AERTC).
