FAQ: Staff and Student Workers
While some employees are designated as Essential and expected to report to their campus work location, some may be permitted with the appropriate approvals to work from an alternate location. Guidance is being provided to Supervisors for planning purposes. Student employees should consult with their supervisor with any questions about their work schedule.
At this time employees should follow their usual call-in procedures and use appropriate accruals.
Employees will be able to access desktop computers from a home computer remotely via RD Gateway and your DUO account. Employees can also have a desk phone forwarded to any cellular or landline. (For an account or step-by-step setup instructions, visit https://it.stonybrook.edu/keep-working
Additionally, the University is adding resources for virtual meetings, like Google Meet and Skype for Business. Google Hangouts and Google Chat will also be available for video chatting and instant messaging. Employees can use Google Drive as a backup, allowing for access to documents, photos and videos from any computer.
Access to software/programs needed to work via a home computer are available through our Virtual Sinc Site. Microsoft Office can be downloaded with a NetID on up to five computers.
When we receive this information the details are communicated to the appropriate NYS Department of Health and the local health department with jurisdiction over this work location.
Based on information provided to us by the affected employee, and in order to keep the relevant employees informed, HRS will notify by email both the Supervisor of the employee and those with whom they have been in contact. We will also notify the Facilities division for the necessary cleaning protocol.
