The University's Main Commencement Ceremony will take place on Friday, May 24, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium.
Once Candidates Apply to Graduate by April 17, 2019, ( 3) Guest Tickets will be secured in their name. On May 13, 2019, Candidates who have successfully applied to graduate will receive an email invitation to their Stony Brook University account with instructions on how to access tickets. Please be sure to obtain your tickets from your graduate before the event. Graduates will be lining up prior to the Ceremony.
Gates Open at 10:00 AM. All Guests must present their tickets at the gate. Children under the age of 3 do not require a ticket however must sit on the lap of an adult throughout the duration of the Ceremony. Seating is on a first come, first serve basis.
The following items are not permitted inside the stadium: outside food/beverage, backpacks, luggage, umbrellas and balloons. Please note, the buying, selling, or gifting of tickets is strictly prohibited and may result in disciplinary action.

10:00 AM Candidate Arrival: Candidates are in line at the Indoor Sports Complex Parking lot wearing academic attire
10:30 AM Academic Procession: Candidates are ushered to their seats on the stadium field
11:00 AM Ceremony Begins: All guests are seated
All-you-care-to-eat Commencement Brunch featuring Nutella banana crepes, egg boats, carving station, Chef's Table, full salad bar, pancake sampling, assorted fresh baked specialties, and much more. Students may use meal plan or Wolfie Wallet at the door on the day of the event.
COMMENCEMENT CAMPUS MAP
From New York City, take the Long Island Expressway (LIE, I-495) eastbound from the Queens Midtown Tunnel in Manhattan or the Throgs Neck Bridge or Whitestone Bridge in Queens to exit 62, and follow Nicolls Road (Route 97) north for 9 miles. The main entrance to the University is on the left. To find the campus via GPS, enter the address "100 Nicolls Road, Stony Brook, NY 11790."

Take the Long Island Railroad's Port Jefferson line from Penn Station in Manhattan to Stony Brook. The LIRR station is at the north end of the campus; bus service to the central campus is provided. Trains to and from Penn generally require transfers at Jamaica or Huntington. Hicksville is also a transfer point on some lines.

Located at the south entrance off Nicolls Road. There you can take a bus to Main Campus.

Guests with Disabilities
Parking for ADA permit holders will be located in the Sports Complex Parking Lot off Gym Road as well as in the Stadium Parking Lot. Proper identification is required. SBU's ADA Transport Services can will be accessible from the Sports Complex lot on Commencement Day.
