The December Commencement Ceremony is will take place on Friday, December 20, 2019 at 11:00am at the Island Federal Credit Union Arena.
This is a ticked event. All registered candidates will be able to access 3 guest tickets beginning on Monday, December 9, 2019. The online ticket portal will be available on our commencement website. Please be sure to get your tickets from your graduate before the event. Graduates will be lining up prior to the Ceremony.
Doors Open at 10:00 AM. All Guests must present their tickets at the door. Children under the age of 2 do not require a ticket however must sit on the lap of an adult throughout the duration of the Ceremony. Seating is on a first come, first serve basis. The following items are not permitted inside the arena: outside food/beverage, backpacks, luggage, strollers and balloons.
*Please note: the buying, selling, or gifting of tickets is strictly prohibited and may result in disciplinary action.

10:00 AM Candidate Arrival: Candidates are in line at the Pritchard Gym located in Indoor Sports Complex wearing caps and gowns
10:30 AM Academic Procession: Candidates are ushered to their seats on the arena floor
11:00 AM Ceremony Begins: All guests are seated
From New York City, take the Long Island Expressway (LIE, I-495) eastbound from the Queens Midtown Tunnel in Manhattan or the Throgs Neck Bridge or Whitestone Bridge in Queens to exit 62, and follow Nicolls Road (Route 97) north for 9 miles. The main entrance to the University is on the left. To find the campus via GPS, enter the address "100 Nicolls Road, Stony Brook, NY 11790."

Take the Long Island Railroad's Port Jefferson line from Penn Station in Manhattan to Stony Brook. The LIRR station is at the north end of the campus; bus service to the central campus is provided. Trains to and from Penn generally require transfers at Jamaica or Huntington. Hicksville is also a transfer point on some lines.
