Digital resources are available 24/7. Search for ebooks, journals, articles, databases, and course reserves here . Log in with your NetID and password for full access. Print materials from our collections will be available by request only.
We are offering limited interlibrary loan services for physical books. Our ability to fill your requests depends on lending libraries' current policies, due to COVID. Request form is here.
Please note that electronic delivery of articles is still available.
As a Stony Brook student, you have access to educational discount pricing:
- APPLE : Receive an education discount pricing on Apple products and an additional discount when you purchase a MacBook Pro recommended system.
- DELL : Receive an education discount pricing on Dell personal computers.
The Division of Information Technology provides the following list of recommended minimum specifications for student computer purchases. These recommendations will meet the requirements for most academic needs. Please check with your school or college for additional requirements and/or recommendations.
While our physical library collections remain closed to in-person browsing, library staff will retrieve materials requested by patrons for pick up at one of several locations when the Fall Semester starts (currently only available in the Central Reading Room of Melville Library). Please see instructions below.
Instructions for requesting physical materials from our circulating collections:
Sign in to your personal account through the Libraries' Search Catalog (see image below).
Search for the materials you’d like to request.
Once you click on an item’s location, (i.e. “Available at Main Library Stacks”), click on Request For Pick Up and then Send Request.
Once your items are ready, you will receive an email to pick them up at the Central Reading Room between the hours of 11 am to 3 pm Monday through Friday. When the Fall semester begins, there will be additional pick-up locations available: North Reading Room (Melville Library), Health Sciences Library, Music Library, Southampton Library.
When picking up your materials, please remember to bring your SBU ID and a mask. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
Replacement cost of $1,000 for lost or stolen laptop, plus a processing fee of $20
Replacement cost of $50 for lost, stolen, or damaged power adapter or laptop sleeve, plus a processing feel of $20
Late fines: $20/day up to $60 (three days); thereafter charge is for lost laptop ($1,000)
Charge for damages (repairs) is up to $1,000, based on cost for replacement part(s)
Students patrons must abide by SBU’s Appropriate Use of Information Technology – Policy 109
Laptop loan is a privilege and can be revoked if abused
