Student FAQs: Student Life
Most in-person events will be canceled in the fall, with the exception of some small group activities that adhere to group size limits permitted by NYS. We will continue to support and offer virtual events through virtual programming platforms and social media, and find ways to build on our traditions. Additionally, based on student interest, we will introduce a new series of co-curricular leadership development workshops and programs in Student Organizational Leadership and Civic Engagement. You will be able to participate online and/or in person and earn microcredentials to document your participation.
Governor Cuomo has announced that gyms and fitness centers could reopen as early as August 24 provided they follow specific health and safety requirements and are approved to open by their local Department of Health. We are awaiting inspection by our Suffolk County DOH. More information will be shared on the Recreation & Wellness website as it becomes available.
We are optimistic that the pool will be open in the fall with users having to reserve a lane in advance. More information will be shared on the Recreation & Wellness website as it becomes available.
Intramural sports will look to continue activities offered toward the end of the spring semester: e-sport leagues, trivia, and fitness challenges. We also hope to incorporate individual/small team sports that can be played and ensure physical distancing.
