New York State (NYS) Center for Clean Water Technology
The NYS Center for Clean Water Technology aims to foster business and job creation through the development of novel water technology, with an initial emphasis on on-site wastewater technology. The Center is a joint effort between Civil Engineering and the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences in coordination with the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, Suffolk County, and the town of Southampton.
Infrastructure, Transportation and Security Center
Civil Engineering secured a key role in the newly funded Infrastructure, Transportation and Security Center (ITSC). Along with the Department of Computer Science, we are collaborating with teams frmo Farmingdale State College, Maritime College and Nassau Community College to strengthen the security of various infrastructure and transportation systems across Long Island.
Coastal Zone Management and Engineering Cluster
The cluster in coastal zone management and engineering creates a synergy between experts in the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences (SoMAS), the Departments of Ecology and Evolution, Geosciences, Sustainability Studies and the Department of Civil Engineering. The focus of this cluster's research will combine finding better ways to solve known problems unique to the coastal zone, while simultaneously studying the underlying scientific and sociological causes.
