Research Interests

Dr. Hakan Sahin’s research interests include unsaturated and saturated soil mechanics, retaining walls, soil structure interactions, slope stability and retaining structures, road supporting infrastructures, pavement design, and nondestructive testing. More specifically, he has done research on comprehensive investigation about the characterization of expansive soil to develop a design methodology on retaining earth structures by using the unsaturated soil mechanics approaches as well as on transportation infrastructure system to develop the performance prediction of the flexible pavement systems by using nondestructive testing methods. He is a recipient of the Ph.D. Candidate Program Award from Southwest Region University Transportation Center (SWUTC).
