Research Mentors: Dr. James B. Bliska
James B. Bliska
Professor, Dept of Molecular Genetics & Microbiology, Center for Infectious Diseases,
Stony Brook University
Dr. Bliska’s research seeks to understand molecular mechanisms that underlie pathogenesis or host protection during host-microbe cell interactions. In particular, he is interested in studying the activities of virulence factors that promote pathogenesis as well as trigger protective host innate and adaptive immune responses. He teaches graduate level medical microbiology and bacterial genetics lectures, and directs an NIH-funded training program for graduate training in infectious disease research.
