Master's Program Admissions Procedure


Stony Brook uses on-line applications for all graduate programs. Apply at https://app.applyyourself.com/?id=sunysb-gs.

Although we will consider an application file at any time and we do not have a deadline, it will be to your advantage to apply by February 1 if you want to begin your studies in the fall.

Domestic Students

As part of the application process you will need to provide:

  1. Two sets of official transcripts of undergraduate and (if applicable) graduate course work to be mailed to:

    Graduate Admissions

    Stony Brook, NY 11794-3400

  2. Official Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores (Stony Brook’s code for score reporting is 2548)

  3. Three letters of recommendation.

  4. A non-refundable application fee of $100.

International Students

As part of the application process you will need to provide:

  1. Two sets of official transcripts of undergraduate and (if applicable) graduate course work to be mailed to:

  2. Official Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores (Stony Brook’s code for score reporting is 2548)

  3. If your native language is not English, then you must submit official English language test scores. Accepted tests include the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or the Test of Spoken English (TSE). An overall Internet-based TOEFL (iBT) score of 80 or higher is required for admission.

  4. Three letters of recommendation.

  5. A non-refundable application fee of $100.
