- 7PM - 8PM: From Neuroscience and Quantitative Finance to Conversational AI: An Exploration of Models, Uncertainty and Implications - In this workshop, we will examine widely used statistical techniques and modeling methods utilized in neuroscience, quantitative finance and natural language processing. We will explore how similar problems are approached differently across various fields, the differences in modeling methods, and ultimately how these models – when deployed in the real world – translate to success, rewards and sometimes catastrophic failures. We will analyze case studies that have lessons to avoid known pitfalls in statistical modeling and machine learning (ML). Finally, we will engage in an open discussion on hackathon project ideas around AI/ML and strategies for securing an internship or full time position in the technology industry. Presented by Dr. Rajat Kumar
- 8PM - 9PM: Creating Compelling VR Experiences - Learn what considerations go into crafting compelling VR experiences that go beyond prototypes into products that make meaningful impacts on people. The session will go over creative VR design practices, tools to create VR content, and how to get started with a career in the metaverse. Presented by Eagle Wu
