CEAS Dedicates Broadridge Financial Solutions, Inc. Innovation Lab in New Computer Science Building

College of Engineering and Applied Sciences has dedicated the Broadridge Financial Solutions, Inc. Innovation Lab in the New Computer Science building. A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on Friday, October 4, 2019, after Dean Fotis Sotiropoulos’ annual State of the College Address.

Participating in the dedication ceremony from Broadridge and Stony were:

“The Broadridge Innovation Lab at Stony Brook University provides students with real world experience within the classroom, working on Artificial Intelligence Proof of Concepts,” said Oliveri. “This is a ‘win/win’ situation: Stony Brook engineering students gain hands-on understanding and Broadridge boosts its ability to innovate.”

Broadridge and the Department of Computer Science ’s partnership is demonstrated by Broadridge’s support of several Stony Brook undergraduate and graduate research projects. The global fintech company has committed to these and other initiatives (such as Grad Research Day) for the next three years.

Innovation Lab will serve as a hub of  innovative thinking and creativity among students, faculty and the entire Stony Brook community,” said Das. “Our partnership with Broadridge is truly invaluable, and their investment has had a direct impact on the development and success of our students. I am eager to see the work that is done in this space, the ideas that are born here and the innovation that results from this incredible collaboration."

The Broadridge Financial Solutions, Inc. Innovation Lab is a 100-seat lecture and event space. Offering dual projector screens, recording, streaming and point-to-point video conferencing; and a wireless Airmedia display connection.  It is the largest of its kind in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences and the most requested space for all departments and high-profile university events.
