Joan M. Kenny Memorial Scholarship

The Joan M. Kenny Memorial Scholarship has been established by the Dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences in honor of Joan's more than 30 years of service to Stony Brook University and her tireless dedication to the needs of our undergraduate students. The award will be give out to a student who has struggled and improved in any CEAS major and may be in financial need. Under this scholarship program, a student who meets the qualifications below will be awarded $1,000 payable in two payments at $500 per semester contingent on the student's academic achievements. 

To qualify for the Joan M Kenny Scholarship, interested students must:

A. Be enrolled as a full time undergraduate student in a major in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences for the full academic year (BOTH the fall and the spring semesters)

B. There is no minimum GPA requirement, but students must demonstrate that they are dedicating themselves to study and improving their overall grades

C. Be in financial need

Interested candidates should submit the following documents:

1. A completed application form

2. A one-page statement outlining personal and professional goals and addressing the student's financial need. This statement should also address any academic, personal or other difficulties and how the candidate is working to overcome these difficulties in order to develop their academic and professional skills

3. A resume

Important Notes:

All scholarship awards are subject to renewal of the scholarship by the donor and receipt of funding for these awards.

If selected to receive this scholarship, you will be required to furnish this office with a letter of thanks to the donor of the scholarship. Details will be specified in the scholarship offer letter.

 

Students who are in their graduate career of an accelerated degree program are ineligible to receive an undergraduate scholarship award.
