Become part of the solution to transform healthcare

Healthcare organizations today face an unprecedented complexity of challenges that impact their ability to maintain fiscally sound operations, patient safety, and compliance with government regulations. These challenges have revealed the need and created an escalating demand for healthcare professionals with specialized training and skills in project management.

Responding to this need, the Center for Corporate Education at Stony Brook University developed a specialized certificate in Project Management for Healthcare. This training prepares participants to successfully plan and implement initiatives that lead to sustainable improvements in the way healthcare organizations operate and the services they provide.

Real-world training for real healthcare challenges

The Project Management for Healthcare Certificate is industry-focused training for current or aspiring project management professionals who seek to enter or grow their careers in the healthcare sector.

In this program, participants learn how to apply real-world tools and practices to:

  • Meet and manage the unique professional challenges of healthcare projects.
  • Initiate, plan, execute, and control projects that deliver on time, on budget, and according to specified quality requirements.
  • Manage project resources.
  • Communicate and negotiate effectively with project stakeholders, while managing team and stakeholder dynamics.
  • Manage project risk by designing risk plans.

Coursework comprises 35 professional development units/contact hours* and is presented in an 100% online, predominantly asynchronous format. Participants engage in frequent one-on-one interaction with the instructor, participate in three class-wide synchronous meetings, and work hands-on with an assigned cohort to develop a case study. Learning is enhanced through active group discussion with fellow classmates who work in the healthcare industry.

Education that’s much more than a credential

Incorporating expertise from renowned healthcare and project management organizations, CCE’s Project Management for Healthcare Certificate has been rigorously designed to prepare participants to confront and solve next-generation problems in the healthcare industry.

The course offers highly relevant, leading-edge education through a blend of practical, proven insights from Stony Brook Medicine, a world-class medical services and research institution, and from Total Systems Education Ltd., a global provider of project management and business analysis training and a Project Management Institute® (PMI) Approved Training Provider.
