The CATIA V5 Foundations course is structured to introduce new users to the
CATIA interface and efficiently interact in developing designed parts. Techniques
are
fostered for effective file management techniques with emphasize on comprehension
of
file links and procedures for incorporating optimized design methodologies. Attention
is
given to efficient part design techniques, developing well-organized assemblies and
generating drafting definitions. Upon completion of the course, the student will be
able
to create and edit their designs using proven time-efficient modeling techniques.
Topic
areas include:
- User Interface
- Managing Files
- Visualizing Models
- Specification Tree
- Managing Geometry
- Reference Features
- Sketch Generation
- Sketch Operations
- Introduction to Part Design
- Dress Up Features & 3D Patterns
- Wireframe Geometry
- Basic Surfaces
- Geometrical Sets
- Basic Assemblies & Constraints
The primary emphasis of this course is on parametric solid modeling in V5 but an introduction to Assembly Design, Drafting and Wireframe and Surface is also included.
What You Will Learn
At the completion of this course, students will be able to:
- create and manipulate a wide variety of profile-based solid features,
- apply complex dress-up features such as fillets and drafts,
- perform feature patterning and other transformations.
Who Should Attend
Designers, Design Engineers, and Manufacturing Engineers (both new and current CATIA users) who need to understand how to create parametric solid models and learn an introduction to assemblies, drafting and wireframe and surface using basic CATIA V5.
