Yi Wang

 

Yi received her PhD from the Department of East Asian Studies at the University of Arizona. As an applied linguist, she is particularly interested in the social and cultural aspects of language use and learning by transnational and multilingual students. Yi's primary research focuses on the multilayered language ideologies among nation-states, stakeholders, and study abroad students in China in the age of Belt and Road. She is also interested in the process of third language acquisition of multilingual individuals. Prior to joining Stony Brook University, Yi taught in the U.S. (Emory University, Middlebury College, and University of Arizona), Australia, and China. She has published articles in a number of journals and edited volumes in the areas of study abroad research and second language acquisition.
