James Austin Smith joins us as Artist in Residence  and instructor of Oboe and Chamber Music. He studied at Northwestern University, Hochschule fur Musik und Theater Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy (Leipzig), and Yale.

James Austin Smith joins the Department of Music as Artist in Residence  and instructor of Oboe and Chamber Music. He studied at Northwestern University, Hochschule fur Musik und Theater Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy (Leipzig), and Yale and has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Juilliard School, Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and Weill Music Institute, as well as Banff Centre, Bowdoin International Music Festival, and Orlando Festival.  He has taught at Manhattan School of Music, SUNY Purchase, and the Hartt School of the University of Hartford.
