Dr. Vittorio Merola studies the intersection of comparative politics, political economy, and political psychology.

Dr. Vittorio Merola studies the intersection of comparative politics, political economy, and political psychology. He employs quantitative methods, with a particular emphasis on experiments and causal inference.  His research seeks to understand how economic factors shape underlying psychological mechanisms and political behavior. He studies the political consequences of high and increasing economic inequality among democracies both in the advanced, industrial world, and developing economies. Dr. Merola holds a BA in government and business from the University of Texas, MA in political science from the University of Wisconsin, and MA degrees in economics and political sciences, as well as a PhD in political science, from The Ohio State University.
