Role: Andréa’s passion involves facilitating relationships between industry and higher education that lead to amazing career opportunities for students. She dedicates herself to increasing awareness among employers about the talented students at Stony Brook and works to develop creative programming designed to connect students with organizations looking to hire volunteers, interns, and part-time/full-time hires. Andréa also provides career advising and guidance to students in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
Personal/Professional Background: Andréa Lipack received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Plattsburgh State University of New York, and Master of Science in Education Degree in College Student Development Counseling from the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University. Andrea has 20 years of experience in career services. She is a recipient of the Student Affairs Distinguished Service Award for Outreach Efforts and is a past president of MNYCCPOA, a local professional association representing college/university career services professionals in the tri-state area.
Favorite part about working at the Career Center: As a results-driven individual, Andréa’s favorite part about working in the Career Center is receiving feedback from students and employers who have made successful connections as a result of the Career Center’s programming and services. “My favorite time of year is when the semester is coming to a close, and students are visiting to share the exciting news about offers they have received and accepted.” She also enjoys hearing positive feedback from employers about the talented students that have been hired.
