Before joining the faculty at Stony Brook, Dr. Huang received her PhD in Psychology from Yale University and was a postdoctoral fellow in the marketing department at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto. Dr. Huang's research focuses on how motivational and environmental factors interact to produce unintended consequences in consumer judgment and behavior. In her empirical research, she identifies which goals might be particularly associated with unintended effects in consumer contexts. Her theoretical work argues that an individual's expressed judgments and behaviors can be understood as indirectly controlled by multiple conscious and unconscious goals. Dr. Huang has published this research in behavioral science journals, including Behavioral and Brain SciencesPsychological Science, and The Journal of Experimental Social Psychology.
