About Us
WELCOME
Throughout February, Stony Brook University hosts Black History Month, an annual tradition that celebrates the African American/Black experience. This year's theme, Sankofa! Black Creativity, reflects the past and present innovation, resilience, and beauty that uniquely characterizes people of the African Diaspora.
We invite you to participate in the many virtual and in-person educational, social, and cultural programs that will be held, begining with the Black History Month Opening Ceremony on February 3. Feel free to visit this website often for up to date program information.
Black History Month is coordinated by the Office of Multicultural Affairs, Department of Africana Studies, and the Black History Month Committee. For more information, call us at (631) 632-6700.
