Hong Li Snyder got her Master of Law degree (L.L.M in Economic Law) from the University of Jilin, China and an MBA degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is now working on her PhD degree. She has been teaching Mandarin at Harbor Country Day School since 2014 and teaching bilingual beginner Chinese every Saturday at the Chinese School at Stony Brook since 2016. She also works for Empire State College as a Mandarin evaluator.
Her rich teaching experience helps many students who, starting with no prior exposure to Chinese, have been able to pass level 4 of the HSK (China’s standardized test of Chinese language proficiency for non-native speakers).
In order to facilitate the exchange of international culture so important in education, Hong has translated sixteen children’s books from European languages into Chinese. These books were subsequently published by the Beijing Higher Education Press. She wrote two books about Chinese Festivals published by the Shandong Friendship Press, China.
Hong is married to a physicist, and has two lovely twin daughters. She enjoys hunting for mushrooms, gardening, cooking, and Chinese painting.
