Jiwon received a B.A. in Spanish/English Literature and Linguistics from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Korea and an M.A. in TESOL and a Ph.D. in Linguistics from Stony Brook University. Her research centers on the question of how language is represented and processed, with a focus on understanding the relationship between production and perception of cross-linguistic spoken language and exploring the mechanisms underlying speech adaptation. Her work also concerns Korean language pedagogy and acquisition of Korean as a foreign and heritage language.
