• BIOGRAPHY
   Biography

  Dongmei Zeng, D.A.

  Dongmei Zeng received her B.A. in English from Northwest University in China, M.A. in English from Emporia State University in Kansas, M.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language and D.A. in Foreign Language Instruction from Stony Brook University. She was associate professor of ESL at the City University of New York prior to joining the full-time faculty at Stony Brook University. Currently, she is senior lecturer of Chinese language & linguistics and director of the China Studies Program at Stony Brook University. She teaches courses in Chinese language, structure of Mandarin Chinese, second language acquisition, and methods in teaching Asian languages. Dr. Zeng has published a number of textbooks including Breaking Boundaries: A Content-Based Academic Reading and Writing Text (co-author) and Contemporary Chinese for Heritage Learners: An Introductory Text (author) and a series of articles in professional journals and newsletters. She has presented widely on linguistic and cultural issues related to Chinese heritage language learners. Her research interest is centered on language learning and teaching, Chinese teacher education, Chinese heritage language maintenance and pedagogy.
