January 2017

Jordan Guerra (undergraduate student in the lab of Assist Prof Gabrielle Russo) was awarded a competitive scholarship for the 2017 IDEAS Workshop at the upcoming 2017 American Association of Physical Anthropologists annual meeting in New Orleans. 

Assoc. Prof. Sonia Harmand has been named one of the 50 most influential French in the world by French Vanity Fair! 

Vincy Mathews (Summer High School student in the lab of Assist. Prof. Jeroen Smaers) has been named top scholar (among the 300 best in the country across all sciences) by the  2017 Regeneron Science Talent Search. Vincy is a high school student at  Plainview-Old Bethpage John.F.Kennedy High School. Her research project is entitled "A comparison of the cerebellar lobules across primate species reveals the evolutionary seeds of human intelligence".

July 2016 

Rima Madan (UG Anthropology/Biology) was voted URECA researcher of the month for her work on disease transmission in endangered species. Rima's research mentors include Anthropology's Pat Wright, and Daniel Dykhuizen and Gena Sbeglia from the department of Ecology & Evolution.  

Recent alumnus Benjamin Utting (2016) is interviewed for 'Stony Brook Matters' to talk about his experience at Stony Brook University and how it prepared him for graduate studies at Cambridge University (UK).

Prof. Elizabeth Stone and junior anthropology major Melina Seabrook talk about their world-spanning archaeological work 'digging deep into Iraq's ancient past' in the most recent edition of Stony Brook Happenings.
