Institute of Gas Innovation and Technology

The AERTC joined forces with National Grid-USA in February 2018 to launch the Institute of Gas Innovation and Technology (I-GIT), focused on advanced gas technologies that can reliably deliver energy to global communities while honoring the clean-gen principles of New York State’s Reforming the Energy Vision initiative.

While it is an independent entity, the I-GIT’s association with an academic institution puts it in a unique position to address gas-infrastructure issues and promote affordable, resilient and safe renewable-energy technologies.

The institute is based on five core pillars: low-carbon technologies, gas-system Conduct Gap analyses, next-generation workforce training, international research and policy collaborations and leveraging industry funding with state and federal funding. Multiple renewable-generation and membership-recruitment efforts are now underway.
