Lowering Lab Operational Energy Costs
ABSTRACT: Laboratory facilities have safety standards and guidelines that require very high ventilation rates
to minimize exposure of toxic, hazardous and obnoxious contaminates to occupants within laboratory spaces.
Current practices require a large amount of conditioned air to be mixed with the interior laboratory air and
exhausted directly outdoors. This presentation will present alternatives to the current high ventilation rate
practices that will improve the indoor air quality of the laboratory space resulting in the significant lower
ventilation rate and considerable reduction of energy costs.
