Dr. Alex Domijan
University at Buffalo
Dr. Alex Domijan is the James Clerk Maxwell Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University
at Buffalo and Director of the Power Center for Utility Explorations.
He is also the President of Smart Energy Grid Associates, Inc.,
a total solutions energy firm. He received his B.S. from the University of Miami, M.E. from RPI, and
Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Arlington. He is one of the originators of flexible, reliable,
intelligent, electric energy delivery systems, which are more commonly known as smart grids.
He has been funded at over $20M directly and $1B indirectly in energy and smart grid efforts,
and has over 100 publications. His significant efforts have included Smart Grid pilots,
Premium Power Park, Peak Load Shaving Technology with Renewable Resources, Advanced Commercial
Energy technology for price response load management; and a decade long Weather and Reliability
effort monitoring 3 million utility customers.
