Foreign Language Challenge Exam
Stony Brook University's Foreign Language Challenge Exam program permits students to meet requirements, earn credit, and receive advanced placement by taking examinations in place of foreign language courses taught at Stony Brook. The Challenge Exam also presents the opportunity to satisfy the Stony Brook Language requirement (LANG) in a language not taught at Stony Brook. Students interested in taking a Challenge Exam should visit the Language Learning Research Center, (2125, Humanities Building, 631-632-6914) for more information.
Math Placement Exam
The math proctored assessment is required if you wish to enroll in a mathematics class, unless you have AP or transfer credit equivalent noted on your Stony Brook transcript. All exams take place in the Math Tower, S-235 and take approximately 2 hours to complete.
For more information on scheduling a proctored exam and to find practice problems, go to http://assess.math.sunysb.edu/ or call (631) 632-8250. Students may obtain extra help in the Math Learning Center located in Physics Building, Floor A, Room A-127. Call (631) 632-9845 to find out the extra help hours.
Writing Placement Exam
