What is your association with Academic and Transfer Advising Services?

I am an Academic Peer Advisor.

How did you learn about the APA internship and why did you want to get involved?

I learned about the internship from a previous APA intern. I decided to apply afterwards for a few reasons. I like supporting other Seawolves as we all go through Stony Brook and I am able to do that here. I also wanted to improve my skills I would need after college, like communication skills.

How did the APA internship support your academic interests?

I am interested in Higher Education, so working at a college, in the future. This internship allows me to see the college environment from the administrative point of view which is very different from the regular student perspective.

What advice would you give to students?

Pay attention to deadlines! Everyone has goals and things they want, but it’s hard to reach those goals when you aren’t aware of when things are due. Another piece of advice I would give is to make the most of the college experience, there’s a lot to get involved in here at Stony Brook.
