The Office of Conferences and Special Events organizes many of the annual and one time University events.
Artists, Authors and Editors
The annual Artists, Authors, and Editors exhibit recognizes some of the artistic activities of our University Faculty and includes books, journals, performances, exhibits, recordings or videos published/produced in the previous calendar year. Following the reception, works are exhibited in the Melville Library's Central Reading Room for one year.
Inclusion in the event is by a self-nomination form distributed by the Office of Conferences and Special Events. Faculty interested in submitting their work can complete the corresponding form(s) and return to Christine Quinn:
The Annual Recognition Ceremony honors Faculty and Staff who have served Stony Brook University for 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 and 50 years. A lunch for all recipients follows a formal recognition program.
University Awards Dinner
Served “by invitation only,” this Annual Dinner is where the President presents the Chancellor's Awards for Excellence. The guest list includes recipients of awards and mini-grants, faculty who have been elected to the Academy of Teacher-Scholars, and those who have been promoted to the ranks of Distinguished Professorships. Chairpersons, Supervisors, Nominators, Members of the selection committees, and Vice-Presidents are invited to join the Faculty and Staff who have been identified in the above categories.
Established in 1992, this Annual Event recognizes Faculty who have been the recipients of prestigious national and international fellowships, honors, and awards during the previous fiscal year. Faculty members are identified by either self-nomination or by nomination from colleagues. A system of review by the Provost determines inclusion in this “by invitation” dinner. These awards recognize our world-renowned faculty for teaching, research and scholarly excellence.
