Open Educational Resources (OER) Grant
For fiscal year 2017 – 2018, SUNY was given $4 million by the state of New York to implement Open Educational Resources (OER) in high-enrollment, general education courses. All SUNY campuses were eligible to receive these funds. The criteria for receipt of allocation monies are: 1) A commitment to convert a class, or classes, to OER and maintain the redesigned course for three years. 2) Develop a sustainability model for OER on your campus. 3) Share enrollment and savings data for your OER courses.
Through the SUNY-funded Open Educational Resources (OER) Initiative, Stony Brook University Libraries is pleased to announce the OER Initiative Grant to encourage and support instructors of record (faculty, instructors, teaching assistants) to adopt, adapt, or create OER resources in their courses. The goal is to significantly reduce (by 50% or more) course materials and textbook costs for students, yet provide access to high-quality open educational content for teaching, learning, and research. All instructors are invited to apply for this competitive grant to receive funds ranging from $250 to $2500. The deadline for an OER Grant application is May 31, 2018.Apply
