The Biochemistry and Cell Biology Department has a lot to celebrate this week, with not just one, but two successful thesis defenses taking place!

Dr. Mariella Quispe-Carbajal defended her thesis titled "Recognition of small Tim chaperones by the mitochondrial Yme1 AAA+ protease" on December 8th.

Dr. Lingshung Wu defended her thesis "Biochemical and Functional Characterization of Triglyceride Lipases in Lipid Droplet Metabolism" on December 11th.

Both newly minted doctors are from the Biochemistry and Structural Biology graduate program. Mariella completed her work in Dr. Steve Glynn's lab and Lingshung worked in Dr. Mike Airola's lab.

We are excited to see what great adventures these graduates will go on to next!
