Pazik named SoCJ, Alda Center development director
Nathaniel Pazik, a fundraising professional with more than a decade of experience, will join the School of Communication and Journalism and Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science at Stony Brook University.
“The School and the Center are growing in significant ways, with new degree programs and strategic partnerships, to meet society’s need for more effective and engaging communication,” said Laura Lindenfeld, dean and executive director. “We are delighted to welcome Nate to our team as a partner in building a strong and bright future for the School and Center.”
Pazik comes to Stony Brook with development experience in media start-ups and higher education, among other organizations. Most recently, he served as the chief of operations and development for The Counter, an independent non-profit media organization that investigates the forces that shape how and what U.S. residents eat. There, he established and oversaw the organization’s budget, board of directors and fundraising efforts.
Previously, Pazik worked in various professional development capacities in New York including as executive outreach and development liaison for the president’s office at Long Island University. He also worked prior in medical settings working in development and business capacities and successfully managed a multi-million capital campaign with a New York City social club. Pazik has dedicated his career to working in the non-profit sector with a passion for looking to develop critical funding.
Pazik has a master’s degree in nonprofit management from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree in business from SUNY Plattsburgh.
