Daniel Almonte

Biography

Daniel is interested in particle physics, nuclear physics, cosmology, dark matter, and dark energy. In his free time, he listens to music, plays saxophone, and plays sports. Before becoming a Simons STEM Scholar, Daniel participated in the Science Honor Society. He is excited to pursue his passions, explore new ideas, and build meaningful relationships.

Leading the Future:

Daniel plans to pursue a Ph.D. in physics and conduct research that expands our understanding of the universe.

Why did you become a Simons STEM Scholar?

Daniel chose the Simons STEM Scholars Program because he wanted to be part of a strong, motivating community where scholars support one another.

Research Experiences:

Stony Brook University with Dr. Kenneth Lanzetta, working on exoplanet searches with the Condor Array Telescope.

Stony Brook University with Dr. Abhay Deshpande, using Geant4 simulations for detector-frame studies.

North Carolina State University with Dr. James Kneller, studying supernova neutrino simulations.

Stanford University with Dr. Noemie Globus and Dr. Roger Blandford, working with Geant4-DNA simulations.
