Lauren Brand received her Bachelor of Science Degree in human
resources with a major in dietetics and a minor in biology from the
University of Delaware. She completed a dietetic internship and
her Master of Science Degree in nutrition with a fitness focus at
Long Island University at CW Post. Lauren is on faculty in the
Department of Family, Population and Preventive Medicine at
Sony Brook Medicine and is the Director of the Stony Brook WIC
Program. She has opened four offices since the program’s
inception in 2003.

Ms. Brand sits on the Board of Directors for the
WIC Association of NYS, Inc., served as chairperson for over five
years and is a local agency voting member of the National WIC
Association. She works closely with community health programs
throughout Suffolk County and is involved in committees for the
following: the Head Start Health and Disabilities Advisory
Committee, the Breastfeeding Resiliency, Engagement and
Empowerment (BFREE) Steering Committee with Northwell
Hospital, and the Help Me Grow Long Island Leadership Team.

Ms. Brand has experience in nutrition counseling in both private
and group settings. She co-developed a pediatric nutrition program
for families. Lastly, Ms. Brand is an adjunct instructor in the
School of Professional Development at Stony Brook University.
