In the case of weather or other emergencies, the best way to find out about University cancellations is to access the University Web site and look for the display on the home page. Detailed information will also be available on the campus radio station, WUSB (90.1 FM).

Basic information is also furnished to local radio stations such as WALK (97.5 FM), WBLI (106.1 FM), WBAB (102.3 FM), WCBS (880 AM), WINS (1010 AM), WKJY (98.3 FM), WHLI (1100 AM), and WRCN (103.9 FM). News 12 Long Island will also provide information about University cancellations. Resident students can tune in to the campus cable channel.

Individual departments should have their own procedures for handling emergencies, such as creating phone chains. Only the Governor can close state offices, agencies, and campuses. When offices are open, employees are expected to report to work. Non-essential employees may request supervisory approval to charge their accruals when offices are open. Essential employees must report in accordance with their schedules.

The 632/444-SNOW (7669) phone lines are generally used to inform non-University personnel about the status of the University. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to monitor the Web site, WUSB, and local radio stations to get the most up-to-date information.
