Did you know Stony Brook University is home to the only undergraduate Journalism program in the SUNY system? In this video, we examined our state of the art facilities, experienced faculty and a plethora of opportunities for students.
Students who are a part of the Journalism program have access to a Newsroom equipped with up to date modern equipment such as HD video cameras, news tickers, and Macintosh monitors. Sarah, currently majoring in broadcast journalism, tells her stories about the Newsroom and how much of her college experience she spent there. Faculty members who teach in this program are directly from the journalism field. Opportunities offered to journalism students include interning on-campus and off-campus, reporting in NYC through a course offered in the winter and summer, reporting in countries like China and Russia through the Journalism without Walls program, and listening to guest speakers like Arianna Huffington and Bob Woodward.
The Journalism program at Stony Brook University will give you the experience needed to get employed after graduation. We have former students now working for networks like CBS News and NBC Latino. Sarah also discusses her internship experiences and how she feels they prepared her for a future career in the field. For those students who believe there are no jobs in Journalism, this video will change your mind.
