Coming Fall 2012: Google Apps for Education
Stony Brook will be moving to Google Apps for Education as its main communications and collaboration platform for email, calendar, shared documents, spreadsheets, presentations, instant messaging, and more. The benefits of using a Google Apps for Education account through Stony Brook rather than a personal Gmail account include a larger mail quota (25 GB), an integrated campus directory, the ability to use an @stonybrook.edu email address on resumes and job applications, and no advertisements in email. Beginning with the Fall 2012 semester, students will be able to access their Stony Brook Google accounts, and a large portion of faculty and staff will also be making the move to Google Apps, making it easier for everyone to communicate and share information.

All registered Stony Brook University students have the opportunity to purchase Dell, Apple, HP, or Lenovo computers at discounted, educational prices.
