All registered Stony Brook University students have the opportunity to purchase Dell and Apple computers at discounted prices through the University. Students are also offered Symantec AntiVirus and Microsoft Office 2003 Professional at no additional charge (costs are included in the technology fee). computerResidence Hall Technology
Our Residence Halls and apartments are continually being updated and outfitted with the latest in technology and innovation. All rooms offer high-speed Internet access. Each quad also has its own state-of-the-art computing center, open seven days a week, offering daytime and late-night hours for residents. Centers are staffed by knowledgeable students who can provide training and assistance.

Client Support's Student Service Center provides quality computer support to students connected to the Residential Network (ResNet) within the residential halls and students connecting to Stony Brook University from home. Other services include:

  • In-house support through our Drop-In Center
  • Residential Computer Consultants (RCCs) are available by appointment for Room Visits
  • Network Registration / Connectivity issues
  • Virus: Removal / Anti-virus software installation
  • Spyware: Removal / Software installation
  • OS Repairs / Re-loads (with manufacturers original disks)
  • OS Upgrades (in limited demand)
  • Office Installs/Upgrades
