All registered Stony Brook University students have the opportunity to purchase Dell, Apple, or Lenovo computers at discounted prices through the University. Students are also offered Symantec AntiVirus and Microsoft Office at no additional charge (costs are included in the technology fee). computerResidence Hall Technology
Our Residence Halls and apartments are continually being updated and outfitted with the latest in technology and innovation. All rooms offer high-speed Internet access. Each quad also has its own state-of-the-art computing center, open seven days a week, offering daytime and late-night hours for residents. Client Support's Student Service Center provides quality computer support to students connected to the Residential Network (ResNet) within the residential halls and students connecting to Stony Brook University services from home. Students have the option of bringing their computers directly to Client Support for Drop-in Service, scheduling a room visit, or calling (631) 632-9800 for remote assistance. Client Support assists students with the following issues:

  • Network Registration / Connectivity
  • Virus Removal / Anti-Virus Software Installation
  • Spyware Removal / Anti-Spyware Software Installation
