| The Center for Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology (CEWIT) is a 100,000 square foot building funded with $50 million from the Empire State Development Corporation. Dr. Jim Simons, prominent financier, mathematician, and former chairperson of Stony Brook’s Mathematics Department, and his wife Marilyn, who holds a Ph.D. in economics from SB, recently donated $60 million to Stony Brook. The gift was used to construct and then endow the “Simons Center for Geometry and Physics” on Stony Brook’s campus. |
