Stony Brook offers a variety of scholarships to new students, some of which are based on merit alone and others which take into account financial need. The majority of our scholarships require no special applications; all admitted students who are academically qualified are automatically considered for the available scholarships in the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Special scholarships are offered to National Merit Scholarship Competition and Intel Science Talent Research Finalists and Semifinalists, valedictorians, and salutatorians.
