Our award-winning faculty include the winners of three Nobel Prizes, two Pulitzer Prizes, five MacArthur Fellowships, the Fields Medal in Mathematics, and three Grammy Awards. C.N. Yang, Albert Einstein Professor Emeritus of the C.N. Yang Institute for Theoretical Physics, was Stony Brook’s first Nobel Prize winner. The MRI technology that won the Nobel Prize for Medicine was invented at Stony Brook.

Stony Brook is located in New York on the North Shore of Long Island, halfway between New York City and Montauk. A Long Island Rail Road station on campus makes it easy to get to New York City and JFK Airport.
